God Forgives, God Forgets

Never let the sin in others or the sin in yourself defeat you.”

Woman on Beach by Jirl Hodan

God does not cause evil. Man chooses evil.
When man chooses sin, it forces God to withdraw his hand of Protection and Blessing.

God, the Alpha and the Omega, the Ancient of Days, is all Holy. He abhors sin and cannot allow it in his presence. Darkness exists not in Light.

The creature man by his failures never needs to despair his relationship with God. God forgives because God loves.

No man whatever his earthly position can claim to be sinless before God or mankind.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8 NKJV).

Never let the sin in others or the sin in yourself defeat you,” said Ruth Carter Stapleton, inner healing evangelist. All my life, in many situations, her advice has echoed through the chambers of my soul.

In depravity, man's sin is an invitation for Satan and his demons to enter, reign, and cause havoc.
"The thief does not come except to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10 NKJV).

Therefore, out of his Great Love, God sent his Son to save Mankind, to give him the choice of heavenly life.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 NKJV).

Thru Jesus, we are bought, paid for, ransomed and redeemed by his Blood shed on the Cross. As the all Holy Son of God, Jesus is the perfect absolute sacrifice. Otherwise, there is no purpose for his crucifixion.
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1Jo 3:8 NKJV).

The Savior calls us to earnestly repent of our sins throughout the gospels and writings of the New Testament.
"I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Lu 13:3 NKJV).

How quickly and how many times a day does God forgive us?
Jesus said to him (Peter), "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven” (Mt 18:21 NKJV).

When we repent, Jesus forgives our sins and blesses us.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies (Psalm 103: 2-4 NKJV).

When we repent, the Lord, out of his Perfect Love and Mercy, removes our sins completely away.
He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust (Psalm 103:10-14 NKJV).

God forgives perfectly, so it follows he forgets perfectly.
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins” (Isa 43:25 NKJV).

What do we owe this all Holy, all Loving, all Just, all Merciful God?
And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.
"And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these" (Mark 12:30-31 NKJV).

No one who repents and turns to Jesus, the Son of God, can doubt forgiveness. The Savior paid a very expensive price on the cross to redeem all our sins. Repent.

Ticket to Heaven, Forgive!

But the world, the flesh, and the devil don't forgive sins and they don't forget sins. In this, there is real danger.

Every heart needs godly repentance, forgiveness,
and love. It's the narrow road we seek....”

God forgives perfectly and God forgets perfectly.” I like to tell this to my friends who confess they are bothered by the guilt of past sins. But the world, the flesh, and the devil don't forgive sins and they don't forget sins. In this, there is real danger.

Daily, we see politicians, the establishment, the world, the media, government, business, even the church, seek out the sins or alleged sins of a target to proclaim--for excitement, sexual intrigue, or character assassination. No matter, how true or false. No matter the details. No matter how deep in the past. No matter how previously resolved, or forgiven, or paid for. No matter the consequences.

It's too easy a task to condemn others!

For there is none sinless. No, not one. And it's just as much fun to go into a feeding frenzy over someone else's sins, be they true or totally contrived.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and and the truth is not in us,” says John the Apostle (1 John 1:8 NIV). Have you ever met some goodly persons who claim to be without sin? There's nothing more nauseating.

God has a reply for the contrite.

I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite” (Isaiah 57:15 NIV).

Jesus told us about the tax collector who prayed beating his breast, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13 NIV).

Forgiveness demands repentance.

Think of the repentance of King David, (politician) who committed adultery and murder, (2 Sam 12); the sinful woman (unwed mother) who washed and kissed the feet of Jesus in repentance (Luke 7); the woman (harlot) taken in adultery, about to be stoned (John 8); the last minute thief (criminal) on the cross who accepted Jesus (Luke 23).

Think of the denial of Peter (church leader) (Matt 26); of Paul (evangelist), guilty for the persecution, arrest, and death of the early Christians (Acts 8:3, ch 9, 22:4, 26:10). All these are forgiven.

Those who accuse falsely or even seek out the resolved sins of others are guilty of slander. People create their own slander, and they believe their own slander they create.

God has a reply for slander.

Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor 6:9-10 NIV).

Jesus warns us to forgive.

Jesus wants us to look on others with the same love as he looks on us. The same love, that we want for ourselves.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins” (Matt 6:14-15 NIV).

It is a serious mistake with eternal consequences not to forgive others with the love of Jesus. There's no one in Heaven who bears a grudge!
