“Pray
for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you.”
Tower of
David, Jerusalem
|
Even
now, more than ever, pray for Israel in conflict. You see the
urgency for this in the daily news reports. “Pray for the
peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you”
(Ps 122:6 NKJV).
We
acknowledge that Arabs and Israelis are sons of Abraham. The strife
seems to have started between Sarah and Hagar and is unending through
history. Even then, Isaiah prophesies that someday in the end times,
there will be peace.
23 In
that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria (Empire once
included Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran to Egypt), and the Assyrian
will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians
will serve with the Assyrians.
24
In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria-a
blessing in the midst of the land,
25
whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, "Blessed is Egypt My
people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance”
(Isa 19:23-25 NKJV).
Meanwhile,
scripture upholds many times the Messiah will lead Israel to victory
over her enemies.
"In
that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one
who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the
house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before
them.
9 "It
shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that
come against Jerusalem.
10
"And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of
Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look
on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns
for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn”
(Zech 12: 8-10 NKJV).
Psalm 83
in your Bible is an effective prayer for Israel against her enemies.
Psalm
83
(A
Song. A Psalm of Asaph.)
Do
not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still,
O God!
2
For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have
lifted up their head.
3
They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted
together against Your sheltered ones.
4
They have said, "Come, and let us cut them off from being a
nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more...."
“Pray
for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you” (Ps
122:6 NKJV).
Glorious Blessings,
