God Provides for You

One of the weakest areas that comes across in Christians is not knowing God provides. Many Christians are, as such, beggars and not believers.

If Faith is the key to dealing with God, very few put the key in the lock and turn it. One of the great gifts we can give a person is not the substance he is begging for but the knowledge of where to find his Provider. That, he can use over and over again, and it will give power to his spiritual walk.

Heb 11:1 NKJV, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

And we are called to believe his provision and his intervention. Indeed, those who look to man instead of to God are showing disparaging faith indeed. Do not ask man at all, ask God.

Heb 11:6 NKJV, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

One key to faith is the use of giving. Give to receive. It defies all logic and proves the hand of God.

Lu 6:38 NKJV, "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."

In walking with God through spiritual things, always stop and consult the Holy Spirit, he may instruct you to do this and not that. God's ways are not the ways of man. Always consult and obey him explicitly to see the miracles of a gracious God.

Ac 5:32 NKJV, "And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."

How to Find a Job with Faith.

“Max, I've lost my income. The stock market dived. My stock funds sank. Medical insurance costs are way too high. What should I do?” I lost my job and my whole life blew up, so I called my friend, Max.

“George, there's only one thing to do, seek a new job,” my friend said.

“Your task is to contact two or three managers a day until one hands you the contract. Don't ask them for a job; just ask how's business? First, you want them to know you. Meanwhile, you can ask for recommendations and references to keep moving.”

“Can't I just phone to save time?”

“See them person-to-person, so they'll get to know you. Phoning will never raise steam. You'll spin your wheels like you are stuck in a bog. And don't forget to pray!” Max said.

I knew he was right.

You may find this story to be true about you. If you do, there's a few things you should know about faith that will help bring you success.

First, God directs your path. You can choose to do it with his aid or without. The results will prove themselves.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Prov. 3:5-6 NIV).

Second, he wants to prosper his servants. He wants to see your success.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” (Jer. 29:11 NIV).

Third, he selects the times and places in which you function, far more than people realize.

“And he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live” (Acts 17:26 NIV).

Fourth, ultimately, success comes when you realize you work first for him.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward” (Col. 3:23-24 NIV).

Fifth, he brings the blessings of life and wealth. There are many scriptures supporting this.

“The blessing of the Lord brings wealth and he adds no trouble to it” (Prov 10:22 NIV).

Work with God to find your job.

God Sets Men and Women in Ministry

God supplies those who give generously and who follow him in ministry.

A very hot, unbearable sun welcomed us to South Florida in August, and we went through the process of finding a home. Soon after, tiny baby Meg turned sick and developed a fever. We had no medicine. A tall young man from the church helped us to move in. He was also unemployed. Seeing our dilemma, he pulled out his thin wallet and handed us his very last eight dollars to help buy medicine for the baby. He said he was seeding for a new job. My wife and I joined hands and prayed determined with him. The children surrounded us.

The very next day he returned very excited! A neighborhood golf course hired him as a grounds keeper. He was now working for $80.00 a day, a tenfold return on the gift he had handed us.

Our adobe style townhouse contained no furniture. As a family we bunked on the floor. Monica, Brian, Emily, and Joanna slept on mattresses, except for one set of bunk beds. Mary and I purchased two bright red foam mats and slept on the floor for about eight weeks. We used a simple table and chairs for eating but no living room furniture.

God suddenly blessed me, as well. Faith Chapel in Boca Raton invited me to preach while the congregation waited the arrival of their new pastor. A very kindly board member and his wife, George and Joann, befriended us.

In a few weeks, they dropped by to visit our apartment and noticed the lack of furniture. The next day, George made a few phone calls. Our house was suddenly equipped with two couches, end tables, a coffee table, lamps, beds, and a needed dresser. I will admit, sleeping on the red floor mats had grown a little hard. I was so thankful for this new blessing.

As the Holy Spirit anointed our preaching, people came forward for ministry even without an altar call. Some cried tears under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The church board members helped to prayer with the numbers of people coming forward. We worked together as a brotherly team.

Nearby Zion Lutheran Elementary and High School in Deerfield Beach granted a position in public relations. The school proved most generous to my family. Mary worked as a substitute teacher and played piano for the morning student chapels. The elementary principal also used her to teach piano students after school.

I worked days in public relations for the school and evenings to assist Dr. Bob Grunow and his son, Tom, the school administrator. Together, we raised funds for the new high school which had just been constructed. Dr. Grunow formerly served as the development officer for the well-known, national television program, “The Lutheran Hour.” I was so grateful to work with them.

From nothing, God established our way, doing all things well.

“Then Peter answered and said to him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?” So Jesus said to them, “ Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life” (Matt. 19:27-29 NKJ).

Buy a Car God's Way

In this true miracle story, God graciously selects the right car for our journey into Christian ministry. God provides for the way in which he points.

You know, the wildest things happen when you pray! Mary and I answered God's call to Christian ministry from Upstate New York. We prepared to drive to Tulsa, Oklahoma, with our little family of four children and to enroll in graduate divinity school at Oral Roberts University. We simplified all our possessions to the bare bones. We sold most of our household goods in a garage sale, and we shipped the bare essentials in a small load of boxes by truck freight. 

But we still need a car to travel in!

I seriously shopped the auto dealer's lot and examined a few lines of cars. I was exasperated. All but the used cars were way out of my league after our short time of austerity. Behind the building, I spotted exactly what I predetermined in my mind and prayed for, a brown station wagon with a white top! I reasoned I wanted something for the hot western travel and the blazing Oklahoma sun. With financial planning, I admitted to myself I couldn’t accept the price tag. Disappointed, I looked up to the sky and prayed one word, 

"Father?..."

Our limited funds forced us to purchase an older, black, four-door sedan. This seemed fine until, as I drove around town, the brakes failed!... Talk about a lemon! I nearly rolled right through a few bright red-light intersections, pushing my foot “through the floor” and bracing my back against the seat, hard! Scared, I drove the sedan back to the dealer for repairs. The next day, he phoned me.

"I have to be honest with you," he said. "The bad news is your car's rusted frame is bending. That's why your brakes won't work. I can't let you have it. The good news is I have another car I'll give you instead, no further charge.” When I arrived at the dealer's, he summoned me.
 

"I want to talk with you. My wife attends your prayer meeting, and she told me you are serving God. Now, I certainly don't want both my wife and my God against me." Then he presented my "new" car. There out front of the showroom waited the brown station wagon with the white top, all cleaned and polished!

“It's the car I reserved for myself," the dealer said. 

As a result, God showed me he really could direct our paths. Answering his call and accepting his mission placed us under his divine care. God provides for the way in which he points!
