Follow the Spirit

As Earth from the Sun draws Rays each dawn.

Cleansing the air we breathe.
Food nourishes creatures each day.
Oceans to streams quench thirst.
Passion is to Marriage and
Cries to Infants.
Children at play.
World at Work.
Kindness and Care for Mankind.
As Your Grace is Overpowering
to Us, O God.
Your Son, Our Savior.
Divine Love, Eternal without End.

God Defends.
(Isa 1:24) Therefore the Lord says, The LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, "Ah, I will rid Myself of My adversaries, And take vengeance on My enemies.”

(Deut 30:7) "Also the LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.”

Special Day at Market. Before I even set up at 8:30 am, people arrived coming for ministry, healing, and witnessing. The Holy Spirit was on a roll. Usually, I'm off to a slow start, but Jesus was off to a jump start. I prayed for bandaged arms, wrists, feet, wheelchair persons, kidneys, disabled, aged, and young, some dozen people. God pointed them out. A few pastors came by and talked at length to get witness ideas. People came by and chatted intermittently. Different cultures appreciate when I show them interest. I'm mixed with God's heritage in family anyway, American Puritan, Indian, Black. I've elbowed with Orientals, Spanish, Scandinavians, Hebrews. Muslims have saved my life. I love foreign food. My Dad taught me all are my Brothers and Sisters in the Family of Man. I contacted “420” men, women, and childre, a few pregnant ladies. I don't know why others won't join me. It's so easy and rewarding to witness in the sweetness of the Holy Spirit.

Giving generously is the key to receiving abundantly in God's Love.
Modern people don't know how to love sacrificially.
But never ask man for your needs, ask God to provide.
Giving money to the poor, but not just money.
Bless the ones you meet with God's Love,
a wise word, a kind deed, a caring hug, a true kiss,
a heart gift. Living in God's Love, seeking always to give yourself,
you will receive his surprise supernatural Miracles and Blessings.
Prove it to yourself. We have found this is absolutely true.
(3 John 1:2) “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things
and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”

Seek to give your spouse Joy;
make a happy spouse,
and he/she will make a happy union.
Notice, I didn't say “give things.”
Give Joy.”
Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Practice the art of giving to
seek God's blessings.

Market, Saturday. Grateful for Earl, Tina, Cassidy, Pastor, John Paul, Linda helping. “400” contacts made, Men, Women, Children. God is sending more and more. Special Blessings, God who Loves them all. God answers every prayer and touches every contact, even a resistant reply can't get by. One Veteran nicely made me a special cross of nails for ministry, I'll wear around my neck.

Market, special witness in the Jesus Harvest. “344” contacts to our quiet shady new corner. Earl, Tina, and Cassidy came to help. The Holy Spirit nudged instantly. Some came quick, very supportive, and friendly. “I'm glad you're doing this.” Some came bashful, but seeking prayer or ministry. Some dared to approach curiously and cautiously, not wanting to be church-caught. But our aim is to share Jesus. Some reluctant believers wanted not to involve themselves publicly with Jesus at all, and said so. Some feared God, afraid to even pass us. But I call out, “God bless you.” I always want them to know. You see, the Holy Spirit backs me.

"If the new crime be, to believe in God, let us all be criminals," said Bishop Fulton J. Sheen.

Couples relate together in a successful marriage. They discuss, they talk, they share daily life together. True, they sometimes differ, they argue. But they respect each other. They differ about issues, but they do not generally attack each other cruelly with name calling. Further, they forgive fast. “Kiss slow, Forgive fast.” They come to agreement on family issues and they respect their children fairly. Discipline, money, problems, troubles, difficulties, are treated the same way. No one is perfect. Jesus is perfect. Issues are can be slow in resolution, but mutual agreement is a goal. Peace is the objective.

The main thing in a marriage is to live life together in Christ,” my wife of 47 years said.

Imperatively, this means to pray daily together, to read the Bible together, to worship in the same place or church together. “A family that prays together, stays together.” Also, we recommend holding family mini-worship or devotions at home. I remember my Dad always blessed us children each night on the way to bed. Something like, “May our Heavenly Father bless you in the wonder and power of his love, and give you a peaceful sleep in the Name of Jesus.” My wife and I now enjoy reading five psalms each morning or a scripture reading to start our prayers. As we grow older, it's our start time for the day with God.

Blessings to you,
Bill Hunt

Getting Along with Marriage and Friends

Precious values mark marriage and friends like spattered blossoms.

Love is Spattered Blossoms (Bill Hunt Photo)

As men and women approach the age of integrity, they realize points of value in relations, and they want to help others. Here's points my wife and I learned and want to share with you.

1. Forgive immediately, you must. It's not an option. You can not enter Heaven unless you forgive completely.

"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matt 6:14-15 NKJV).

2. Give others time to heal. Don't close in on them with judgment. Peter denied Jesus three times the night of the betrayal. But Jesus gave him space before he reaffirmed him three times on the beach at breakfast.

He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep” (John 21:17 NKJV).

3. Never take or keep offense. Block it. Scientists are learning more and more about cellular memory, how the entire body remembers trauma emotionally and stores it away problematically causing our spiritual, physical, and emotional conditions. Let it go.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails (1Cor 13:4-8 NKJV).

4. People do not realize God forgives perfectly. To forgive perfectly, he must also forget perfectly. God does not forgive partially, he restores our innocence. He wipes the slate clean as we repent. It is only the devil who tries to harass the repentant servant of past sins; he lies.

Then He (God) adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” (Heb 10:17 NKJV).

5. Divorce is not an option. It's like this, the man and the woman in marriage each gives up their own territory and must not take it back. Marriage is now God's sanctified territory. He is the overall third partner.

"So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate" (Mt 19:6 NKJV).

Friendship can last, too.

Marriage God-Arranged

Yes, God can bring husbands and wives together for those who seek his Will.

God arranges marriage for those who seek his Will.
(Forsythe Fotography c. 2011)

For two months, I did not see that girl I spotted. I had no information about her. Finally, one September Sunday, I walked downstairs to a corridor crowded with people waiting for the first service to let out.

"She's coming!" Very quietly, but definitely, the Holy Spirit whispered  in my heart. This was a new experience for me.

"Wait! In just a moment, she's coming around down the stairway." I dared to listen sensitively to the voice inside.

Was this true, or was I imagining it? It was a very special moment for me to realize the Lord's prompting. I was deeply impressed with expectation in my heart and waited obediently, wondering if I was truly about to see her again. Now at the far end of the corridor, I planted my shoulders against the wall and my shoes firmly on the floor, stiff as a board

Sure enough! In about fifteen minutes of faith waiting, the coed appeared on the landing and entranced down the staircase, step by step, like a princess in regal beauty entering the grand ballroom. She came down the stairs and diplomatically greeted professors and students lined all along the corridor. I now noticed she was making her way through the crowd person-by-person stepping sideways towards me. I waited.

"Oh!" she said when she finally stood before me and smiled. "Hello! You owe me a cup of coffee." I could hardly breathe.

"I have never seen a wedding where the Holy Spirit was so strongly present," said the elderly Pastor Liddy on the day we married in Mary's home town.

"You two deserve each other!" said our friend with a big, broad smile, Charles Borgognoni, chaplain of the Syracuse University Football Team. He knew our passion and vitality very well through campus activities. With his famous Italian smile and Friar Tuck tonsorial, he officiated at our wedding.

I think we husbands should hold very dear the great gift for our lives.

"He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22 NIV).

God Selects a Wife

I am absolutely convinced God divinely intends our

spouse.

"I am absolutely convinced God divinely intends our

spouse." (By Bill Hunt c. 2011)

I sat down on the left side of the stage podium and listened to this coed play the magnificent organ with exposed silver pipes. Refrains sounded all the way to the high ceiling and echoed the melody throughout the auditorium. This organist sat behind a white shielding screen in the center.

I wasn't actively looking for a wife, but God held other plans for me. I had returned to Syracuse University for my second year of special studies. On this Sunday in July, I enjoyed reading the scriptures from the podium during service in Crouse Auditorium at the Music School.

This coed played the magnificent organ through high exposed silver pipes. The refrains ran all the way to the ceiling and echoed the melody throughout the auditorium. This organist sat behind a white shielding screen in the center.

Visible from behind the screen, I could only watch her gorgeous energetic legs busily playing the organ pedals as her hands played the keys. There were thousands of attractive coeds on campus, but at a certain moment in the service, this brunette stood up from behind the screen where I could see her.

"O Heavenly Father, I want one like that!" I whispered, hardly daring to believe the honesty of my own prayer.

I was serious. Her beauty overwhelmed me. Not only was she a great musician, she appeared very intelligent, tall, and definitely attractive.

"There's a little shop down the street serving hot chocolate and cream donuts. Would you care to have some with me?" I gulped and asked her after the service was over.

"No, I don't even know you," she said.

"My name's Bill," I flustered.

"Beside, I have my friends with me. I'll take a rain check," she answered and walked off.

My heart sank. I walked outside without talking to anyone, found my car, and started to drive away around the back of the building.

Suddenly, I noticed her and her lady friends entering a parked car as I passed.

At her car door, she turned and glanced a very flirtatious smile at me. My disappointment jumped back to excitement. “I'd like to meet that girl!” And I held the faith I would.

Rules of Love

How should we love our spouse, our family, our acquaintances, indeed all mankind?

How then should we love? (Bill Hunt c 2011)

How then should we love? The 2nd Great Commandment expresses the rule of love for relationships. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The Golden Rule, “Do to others as you would have them do to you,” pretty well gives us a concept on how this should function. However, 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 (NIV) gives us the details, the Rules of Love.

Love is patient. I will calmly wait and endure a situation even if it inconvenient, without complaining.

Love is kind. I will be considerate, warm, generous, sensitive, and understanding toward others. This is an expression of love suiting all relations in society with or without intimacy.

It does not envy. I will not be jealous of, nor covet another person's benefits, friends, or possessions. In fact, I will rejoice for his good fortune.

It does not boast. I will not brag or talk with pride about my accomplishments, performance, or other benefits. In fact, silence is best. Let others proclaim your deeds, my dad always said.

It is not proud. I will not consider myself with undo merit above others, nor express myself in such a way. I know my strengths are counterbalanced by my weaknesses. Of all things I do know or accomplish, there are far more I don't.

It is not rude. I will not consider or treat others with contempt or disdain. There is much hidden value in every person. Therefore, I will treat all others with respect.

It is not self-seeking. Every baby is born with a give-me attitude for survival. I realize the noble measure of adult maturity is rather giving, self-sacrificing, and promoting the benefit of others. “For in giving, we receive.”

It is not easily angered. Anger is an emotion of defense that can be justified or not. Expressing wrath in relationships can be devastating. In fact, the scripture calls it murder. In relationships, the advice to never let the sun set on your anger is best. Your relation needs peace, but so do you.

It keeps no record of wrongs. Forgiveness is the key to relationship. And forgiveness works if it is unconditional. It matters not one speck who is at fault or who offended first. The first one to heart-fully forgive wins! When one repents, God himself perfectly forgives and perfectly forgets. No one who fails to forgive can be admitted to eternal life.

Love does not delight in evil. Bless and do not curse. Never take the side of evil and sin. God can allow no evil or sin in his presence. The redeeming sacrifice of Jesus for us was the greatest act of love. “Never let the sin in others or the sin in yourself defeat you.”

But rejoices with the truth. God is Truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God calls us to rejoice in all things. We can do this because he is the Beginning and End of all things. No other standard will stand before him. And Joy is such a key to successful relationship!

Paul summarizes the function of Love.
“It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Adam, No Time for Me?

Happy the man who gives God care. He’ll also find the woman waiting there. The garden’s very near.

"The Garden's Very Near."

“Adam!
You spend no time with me.
Know me, and you’ll hear me.

“Treat me as you do the woman
and you’ll see the tenderness
of divine love.”

In the image of God he created him,
male and female he created them.
In his own image he created them.

God craves your attention.
Man has so little time to live.
No time to talk.
No time to hear.
No time to pray.
No wonder the woman receives
little attention either.

God walks in the coolness of
each day. He’s calling…
“Adam, where are you?”

Happy the man who gives
God care.
He’ll also find the woman waiting
there. The garden’s very near.

Inner Healing Touches Wife

The anointing love of God enters the rocks of marriage and guides the union between husband and wife.

"God has called us to live in peace" (1 Cor 7:15).
Photo by Bill Hunt c. 2011.

Something happened in that prayer. My Mom's friend, a Spirit-filled Christian, set aside some time for me to pray with her for inner healing. I drove to the northern part of the county to her home. As she softly prayed with me, a burden lifted from me like a heavy load. I now felt peace in my soul that I had not known.

"As the geese know when to fly,

you'll know when to return home."

That night, I heard a flock of geese overhead honking and the Lord spoke to me. “Okay, Lord, I'm willing.” I remember sitting out on the patio and praying. “Lord, place the love in me for my husband.” God tenderly comforted me with grace.

SHE: I started to feel love again for my husband, and I believe that was the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit. It took a lot of courage to be willing to go back. It was also the scripture: a woman either leaves or returns.

A wife must not separate from her husband.
But if she does, she must remain unmarried
or else be reconciled to her husband. And a
husband must not divorce his wife”
(1 Cor 7:10-11 NIV).

Little by little, God healed my feelings. By the time you sent me airline tickets, I was feeling love again for you emotionally. God gave me this gift.

HE: I was a humbled but eager man when my wife returned through the airport gate with our children. As we walked from the plane, I presented her with one regal red rose.

SHE: I didn't want to stay in the city, so you agreed to give up your current graduate studies and move back home. We packed the house together and drove back East. Then we both went to Christian counseling together. God even opened a house for us to purchase.

We entered a spirit-filled church family that

loves each other and knows the Lord.

So much changed when God delivered us from stale religion. A woman has all kinds of support in the Body of Christ, sisters to talk to, prayer friends. For instance, I can just go and have lunch with a Spirit-filled sister in the Lord. God is going to meet our needs, just in conversation. I trust the Lord to do that.

Any Christian couple that belongs to a Christian Church should have help in the pastor. I also know there can be different women in the church praying for me, even as I pray for them. I expect the Holy Spirit to use the normal channels of the Christian life in a healthy church to bring answers, so these kinds of crises will not happen.

HE: The point is God loves his people so much that he intervenes in our lives and heals us. We looked to his face and passed through the rocks together and came out on the other side. I learned to meet the emotional needs of my wife. God is the necessary first partner in any marriage.

A threefold cord is not quickly broken”

Positive Words Heal Husband

Will God intervene to save a husband and wife in marriage?

"I presented her with one regal red rose." (PD)

In my prayer, Jesus stood to his feet and took me by his left hand. We walked from the darkened living room with the curtains drawn, through the hallway, and to each of the three bedrooms. Everywhere, we found piles of boxes waiting to be packed.

"Look at what Satan has done to your house!"

Jesus said in each room.

HE: Through the Holy Spirit, I understood what Jesus intended as he led me through the house. I am the husband and head of the family. He wanted me to stop the messy packing, to unpack the boxes, set up the household, and prepare for my family's return through a firm attitude of hope. He wanted me to take the exact opposite direction from that of defeat. By grace, I now understood that a woman wants to return to a place of strength, not weakness.

I knew it was now my task

to reclaim my household.

The next day I became very curious about my unusual experience with Jesus when he told me, "I am giving you a new heart. I am giving you My Heart." I wanted to see if this was supported in scripture. I was absolutely astonished at what I found in Ezekiel 11:19 and 36! I had never seen these verses before.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws” (Ezk 36:26-27, NIV).

My Pastor Phil had an idea. He made an appointment for me with two lovely young women of faith. I'll call them Marsha and Sandy. They were young wives whose husbands were sentenced to life in prison. For two hours, I sat with them on the living room carpet of their apartment and learned about faith and God's healing love.

They vowed a commitment to remain faithful to their husbands and to believe they would someday live free with them again. I remember the main point they taught me.

Words have power!

Never speak a negative word to your wife if you want to see her again. If she speaks 'divorce,' don't even speak that word back to her. You must remain absolutely positive in your faith and in your words if you want God to heal your marriage.”

This is a strong key for partners suffering a marriage crisis.

HE: I was a humbled but eager man when I met my wife returning through the airport gate with our children. As we walked from the plane, I presented her with one regal red rose.

Together my wife and I determined we shouldn't stay in the city. I agreed to give up the current graduate studies and to return home. We packed the house together and drove back East. Together, we participated in Christian counseling. God even opened an impossible financial blessing, and we purchased a country home.

SHE: “Any Christian couple in a Christian Church should have help in the pastor,” said my wife. “I know there can be different women in the church praying for me, even as I pray for them. I expect the Holy Spirit to use the normal channels of the Christian life in a healthy church to bring answers, so these kinds of crises will not happen.”

HE: The point is God loves his people so much that he intervenes in our lives and heals us for each other. We looked to his face and passed through the rocks together and came out on the other side. God is the necessary first partner to the couple in any marriage.

A threefold cord is not quickly broken”

Marriage Crisis: God Heals the Wife

“To the married, I give this command (not I but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife” (1 Cor. 7:10-11 NIV).

In Marriage Are Rocks to Overcome (PD).

Can God save a marriage? Emotions are very powerful. They prove to be either very supportive or very devastating. I think a young wife can come to a point when she feels she needs to prove her husband and her marriage. "Have I married the right husband?" she ponders.

SHE: There was a lack of security; I always wanted security. And yet we felt called to live our lives by faith. We had not really made the break from the religious church. I don't think we realized the kind of spiritual warfare that would confront us in ministry.

To do what we were doing, we should have had the mature backing of a Christian church. On our own, we spun off from our religious background. Our families thought we were crazy to sell and give away all our possessions to follow the Lord. I found it especially hard because I had these four kids under kindergarten age. I felt emotionally depleted. Our fourth baby was just age one.

SHE: More than that, my husband was involved as a graduate divinity student. I remained at home alone taking care of kids. I found it very difficult to handle this. I felt vulnerable, I guess, from all of it, and the enemy knew my weaknesses. Although we belonged to some prayer groups, they were still very new relationships.

At that time, nationally-known Christian leaders
were in the process of divorcing.

We've come to see that when something is going wrong inside a certain ministry or organization, that very spirit of devastation extends from the head and spreads throughout the body.

SHE: We heard and we knew of other married students getting divorces. I'll never forget this tall guy in our graduate class from Texas and how very sad and sullen his face appeared as he told us his wife was divorcing him. All of sudden I just lost my bearings. I felt I couldn't depend on my husband. I couldn't depend on anybody. I just needed to get out. I folded up emotionally.

Often there was no food in the refrigerator.

You've got to be prayed up to handle that. We saw many miracles. I felt a lack of connection with my husband. He worked a night job to earn income selling insurance. He was gone during the day to classes. We didn't have enough time together. We had stress and tension. I grew further and further disconnected from him. I just did not want to do it anymore.

Anointed prayers for inner healing

SHE: When I returned back to my family home, my aunt was helpful in getting me connected to the Christian counseling center. The counseling sessions showed me problems in communications and how to deal with my emotions. But I just knew what I longed for was something more, anointed prayers for inner healing.

SHE: My Mom's wise friend, a Spirit-filled Christian, set aside some time for me to pray with her for inner healing. I drove to the northern end of the county to her home. Something happened in that prayer! As she prayed with me, a burden lifted from me like a heavy load I carried. I now had peace in my soul that I had not known until then.

Okay, Lord, I'm willing.” I remember sitting out on the patio and praying. “Lord, place the love in me for my husband.” God tenderly comforted me. That night, I heard a flock of geese overhead honking and the Lord spoke to me.

"As the geese know when to fly,
you'll know when to return home."

Q. Invariably, someone will ask me, what about the tragedy of the sorely abused wife or husband? All the scriptures of love apply. Or as Paul says, “God has called us to live in peace” (1 Cor 7:15 NIV). Christian love demands the church help this victim to a place of safety and peace.

Marriage Crisis: God Heals the Husband

A marriage crisis will end in acceptance or rejection. Circumstances and persons will work for or against healing. God proved he is the first partner, and both my wife and I turned to his healing.

God's Daily Grace Binds the Marriage,  by Bill Hunt (c) 2011.
Can God save a marriage? Emotions are very powerful. They prove to be either very supportive or very devastating. From my point, I think a young wife can come to a point when she feels she needs to prove her husband and her marriage.

"Have I married the right husband?"
she ponders.

Marriage progresses through defined stages, the experts advise: initial infatuation, growing awareness, disillusionment, and ultimately, acceptance or rejection. Disillusionment normally arrives within seven to ten years. Ours certainly came right on schedule. I don't know if some marriages progress without these rocks, but I know we experienced ours. I found this extremely humbling. Little did I realize, on the other side of the rocks lies open sea.

HE: I could not understand my wife's change in emotional attitude towards me from a supporting partner. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. I remember sitting on the front steps in the dark night trying to pray. My heart hurt inside my chest, and I could barely breathe. I sat very alone and very frightened.

HE: I made an appointment with our pastor. He talked with me. He prayed with me. Then he received a phone call. It was a final call from my wife. She was already on her way to the airport with the kids. Then, my pastor shockingly confessed his heart to me. His wife, too, had just left him the day before.

HE: My wife took the kids and flew home, back East. As I drove the river drive to our empty house, I was in a state of shock. On the way I resolved to stand and prepare for the worst. If she divorced me, I would not fight her. She is the wife God gave me and those are my children. Everything I have is hers in God, and I would continue to surrender our finances and possessions to provide for her. I would not be forced back on my conviction to her. And I cried.

I learned well-meaning religious friends actually advised my wife to leave her husband. An angry person will tend to accept friends who support her feelings. Spiritual Christians, on the other hand, have a different attitude. They know honest examination may come later. That's when true friends believe in healing.

HE: On the third morning, I packed the boxes alone sitting cross-legged on the dining room floor. Initially, I decided to pack up the house and return back East to attempt to restore the relationship with my wife. The house was a mess of half packed boxes from room to room.

Suddenly, I realized the powerful presence of Jesus with me. He sat there, also cross-legged, on the floor opposite me. I shared my hurts with him and cried out my heart to him in long repentant prayer. I strangely felt my hurting heart in my chest.

"I'm taking out your heart of stone,"
Jesus spoke in my spirit.

This was no longer just a spiritual experience! Now I actually felt my heart physically coming through my chest like a fist-sized rock. I physically felt the stone coming out. I could also feel a deluge of the Holy Spirit's anointing presence all through the house.

"I'm taking out your heart of stone," Jesus repeated.
"I'm giving you a New Heart."

As the stone disappeared from out my chest, Jesus replaced it with a live, fresh, beating, New Heart.

"I'm giving you a New Heart," he said,
"I'm giving you My Heart."

By Divine Appointment God Selects a Wife

Marriage

God truly directs our paths and can surprisingly lead us to the spouse he has chosen when we “do it God's way.”

WEDDING BEGINS NEW LIFE (c) Bill Hunt 2008

The girl I wanted to meet was not present playing the grand pipe organ at the next Sunday service in July, nor again all through August. In fact, I didn't see her again week after week as I searched through the summer at Crouse Auditorium, Syracuse University.

Finally, one fall day in September between the two morning services, I waited downstairs in a crowded corridor for the first service to let out.

"She's coming!"

Very quietly, but very definitely, the Holy Spirit suddenly impressed my heart. This was a new experience for me.

"Wait! she's coming down around the stairway."

I dared to listen sensitively to this voice of God.

My heart pounded. Impressed with expectation, I waited patiently, wondering if I was truly about to see her again. Standing with my back to the wall, I forced myself not to move.

Could this be true or just my imagination?

Sure enough! The coed appeared on the landing and entranced down the staircase. Step by step, like a princess in regal beauty, she entered the grand ballroom. To me, she seemed to sparkle as if she wore the crown jewels.

Diplomatically, through the crowd, she greeted people lined all along the white-walled corridor.

She made her way person-by-person stepping sideways towards me. I waited in grand expectation.

"Oh!" she said.

This girl finally stood before me eye-to-eye, looked up and smiled.

"Hello! You owe me a cup of coffee."

I could hardly breathe.

WEDDING RINGS (C) Bill Hunt 2010
"I have never seen the Holy Spirit so strongly present in a wedding."

The elderly Pastor Liddy quietly remarked after the ceremony on the day we married in Mary's home town, Upstate New York.

"You two deserve each other!" said our other clerical friend.

With his famous Italian smile and Friar Tuck tonsorial, he solemnly officiated at our wedding.

Charles Borgognoni, chaplain of the Newman Center and the Syracuse University Football Team, knew hundreds of students by first name. He was so loved by the students, they called him "the fourth person of the Blessed Trinity." He was quite familiar with this couple's passion and vitality through campus activities.

He was the friend who first told me "that girl's" name.

Doy-lee?” He teased a nickname, grinning wide at me. “So you want to meet Doy-lee?! Her name is Mary.”

I think we husbands should hold very dear the great gift for our lives.

"He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22 NIV).
